- The Barclays, Round One
Rose in contention as Hurricane Irene stops play

Hurricane Irene certainly made her presence felt during the opening round of the The Barclays Championship in New Jersey.
Heavy rain and howling winds initially delayed play at the Plainfield Country Club for over three hours, before proceedings were brought to a complete halt due to darkness with 51 players yet to finish round one.
Englishman Justin Rose sits alongside 15 others - including Ireland's Padraig Harrington - at four-under par, just three shots adrift of leaders Harrison Frazar, Matt Kuchar and William McGirt.
Rose has two holes to play in the opening round of the PGA Tour event, but was left cursing his luck as he bogeyed the 16th when play was called to a premature end. Six birdies, however, punctuated a strong start by Rose as he aims to pick up a tenth career title.
Frazar was one of the few able complete the round, as he shot a bogey-free seven-under 64. Kuchar and McGirt, though, still have holes to play when the round resumes on Friday.
Vijay Singh leads a group of three players chasing the early leaders, sitting a shot back at six-under. Meanwhile, recent WGC-Bridgestone Invitational winner Adam Scott, along with Charley Hoffman, Ryan Palmer and D.A. Points trail by a further stroke.
Brian Davis is at two-under and has one hole of the first round to complete when play continues, whilst fellow Englishmen Luke Donald and Ian Poulter have thus far shot one-under in their incomplete rounds.
Play is due to resume on Friday morning in New Jersey, with event organisers keeping a keen eye on the weather forecast as Irene continues to cause havoc near the east coast of the United States.
