Fernandez-Castano wins Singapore Open

Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano claimed victory at the Singapore Open on the second play-off hole on Monday.

Bad weather forced the play-off to shift to a fifth day of the tournament, and the Spaniard prevailed to take his fifth European Tour win. Fernandez-Castano fired in an eight-foot putt at the par-five 18th, the second hole in the play-off at the Sentosa Golf Club to edge out Juvic Pagunsan.

Fernandez-Castano has now won four tournaments in play-offs, this being his first since the 2008 British Masters. He saw a four-shot lead slip on the back nine during the last round, but held his nerve on Monday after Pagunsan slid his corresponding putt to the right of the cup.
