Fred Couples has indicated he would have no qualms about putting Tiger Woods up against Adam Scott in the Presidents Cup.

Woods returned to form with a third-place finish at the Australian Open, but his appearance in Sydney was overshadowed by a race row following a derogatory comment made by his former caddie Steve Williams.

They are believed to have talked through the issues and buried the hatchet, but it would be an interesting subplot if Woods was paired with Scott, who now has Williams on his bag.

"I think Tiger and Adam are still very good friends, I don't think it will be a problem," USA captain Couples said ahead of the clash with the Greg Norman-led International team. "I think Tiger and Stevie have patched it up, I think they will have a good time.

"My old caddie of 20 years [Joe LaCava] is caddying for Tiger. The four of them know each other. Joe and Adam get along great, Joe and Steve get along great so I think it will be fun."

Questioned on the prospect of facing Scott, Woods said: "Whatever pairing happens, happens. Whoever you are paired against you have to go out and win your point for your country."
