Tiger Woods remains confident of being fit for the Masters after revealing he only has a mild Achilles strain.

Woods pulled out of the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral on Sunday with an Achilles injury, prompting fears he would not recover in time for the first major of the year, which begins on April 5 at Augusta.

However, the 14-time major champion took to Twitter on Monday to reassure his fans and confirmed he would be back on the driving range later in the week.

"Got good news from doc tonight. Only mild strain of left Achilles. Can resume hitting balls late in week and hopeful for next week," he wrote on his Twitter page.

Woods appeared to be in some distress after hitting his second shot in the water at the 10th hole at the Blue Monster course, and after teeing off on the 12th hole, he was escorted from the course with his caddie Joe LaCava.

"I felt tightness in my left Achilles warming up this morning, and it continued to get progressively worse," said Woods in a statement on Sunday. "After hitting my tee shot at 12, I decided it was necessary to withdraw. In the past, I may have tried to continue to play, but this time, I decided to do what I thought was necessary."

Woods will be bidding to win a fifth green jacket, but his first title at Augusta since 2005.
