Justin Rose admits he has nothing but the utmost respect for Phil Mickelson after the American called security on a Hannibal Lecter impersonator during Europe's Ryder Cup victory.

Rose played a key role for Europe on a dramatic final day, coming from behind to beat Mickelson one up as Jose Maria Olazabal's men eventually snatched a 14½-13½ triumph.

During his round Rose produced three incredible shots at vital moments to cut into Mickelson's lead, even earning a thumbs-up from his rival as sportsmanship took over at Medinah.

That classy nature shown by Mickelson also played a role in helping Rose to remove a disruptive individual in the crowd, who attempted to put the Brit off as he approached his shot. Mickelson called for security to address the guilty party - although Rose admits the moment did knock his focus.

"The worst incident with the crowd was when someone was really trying to put me off," Rose said in the Sun. "He was very close to me and he was doing a Hannibal Lecter, that sucking of the lips he did in the film, while I was over a bunker shot.

"I backed off the bunker shot and said 'Are we good? Are we OK here?' That was a moment in the round when I had to regroup.

"But then I have to say the American players were truly great to play with. My singles opponent Phil Mickelson told the guy to back off and asked the security people to do something about him.

"There were plenty of incidents out there in the crowd over the three days but if anyone stepped out of line the guys I played with were the first to point security in the right direction. As long as the Ryder Cup stays wholesome inside the ropes, golf is in a great place."

Meanwhile, European rookie Nicolas Colsaerts shed light on some of the post-tournament celebrations, revealing some of his team-mates donned a few party wigs.

"I've not seen everyone so I can't tell you what state they are in," Colsaerts said. "It was a good old-fashioned party with drinks flying in the air and other stupid stuff going on. Wigs and things like that.

"There were a few Diana Ross wigs and there was a blonde one that Francesco Molinari was wearing. He thought it made him look like Marilyn Monroe - but I wouldn't go that far!

"It was like the sort of party you would have for a 21st birthday - singing, drinking champagne from the trophy and Ian Poulter was trying to do his DJ bit - he doesn't mind being the centre of attention.

"I have 11 new friends now and I know them all better after we won as well. It is funny how people who normally just say, 'Hi, nice to meet you', have a lot more to their personalities. A lot more comes out when you are part of a team like this."
