Tiger lodges US Open entry

Tiger Woods is likely to take his place in the field for the second Major of the year after submitting an entry for the US Open in June.
Woods ended a five-month spell on the sidelines at the Masters and finished a credible fourth behind Phil Mickelson despite being well short of his best form.
After stepping off the 72nd green, Woods confirmed he was not satisfied with his efforts and would take some time off to re-evaluate things. There has been no word when Woods will play again, possibly at the Players' Championship at the beginning of May, but it would appear as if he will continue his quest for a 15th Major title at Pebble Beach from June 17.
"Tiger has certainly filed an entry, and we're certainly anticipating that he's going to play. If someone fully exempt files an entry, generally speaking, they always do play," Mike Davis, USGA senior director of rules and competitions, was quoted as saying in the Monterrey Herald.
Woods has fond memories of Pebble Beach, as he won the US Open by 10 shots at that venue a decade ago.
