Louis Oosthuizen edged out Scott Jamieson by a single stroke to win the Volvo Golf Champions on Sunday.

A double-bogey after sending his tee shot deep into the undergrowth at the par-four fifth ultimately proved costly for Jamieson, who was looking to make it a Durban double after winning the Nelson Mandela Championship last month.

Jamieson had been in the driving seat at the start of the day's play, but he failed to fend off a resurgent Oosthuizen, who triumphed by a single stroke after his round of 66.

Oosthuizen faced a nervous delay in the clubhouse as he waited for Jamieson to finish his round, and the Scot came within inches of forcing a play-off after his eagle putt at the final hole fell agonisingly short.

In front of his home fans, Oosthuizen, who trailed by five shots after 54 holes, made an early statement of intent with a pair of birdies in his opening three holes. After picking up another couple of shots to reach the turn in 32, Oosthuizen opened up a gap at the top of the leaderboard with back-to-back birdies.

His playing partner Thongchai Jaidee was hot on his heels, and his round of 68 looked to be good enough for a share of second place, until Jamieson's late birdie at the 18th to finish on 15-under.

A bogey-free back nine saw Padraig Harrington finish fourth after his final round 68, a shot ahead of Danny Willett and Julien Quesne on 11-under.
