Ryder Cup heroes heading for Wentworth

Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald and the rest of Europe's victorious 2012 Ryder Cup team will be reunited on European soil for the first time since the Miracle at Medinah at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

Defending champion Donald and world No. 2 McIlroy will be joined by fellow Britons Graeme McDowell - who claimed his first PGA Tour title since 2010 at the RBC Heritage on Sunday - Ian Poulter, Justin Rose, Lee Westwood and former champion Paul Lawrie at the European Tour's flagship event.

"It will be great to have The Ryder Cup team back together," McIlroy told the European Tour's official site.

"It was such a special Ryder Cup, one that will have a special place in history, and I don't think anyone associated with that team will ever get tired of celebrating it."

McDowell, whose victory has propelled him back into the world top 10, believes being reunited with the European team that matched the greatest final-day comeback in Ryder Cup history will make for a special weekend.

"Any time the Tour gets a winning Ryder Cup team together is pretty special, but this year will have that little bit extra because of the nature in which that particular Ryder Cup was won," McDowell said.

"To be a part Europe's biggest ever comeback was just an amazing honour, and I am sure there will be nice Ryder Cup vibe to the BMW PGA Championship this year."

Winning captain Jose Maria Olazabal will also be among the playing field, and is looking forward to being reunited with his team at the tournament, which starts on May 23.

"I am delighted that the British public will get the chance to see all of my Ryder Cup team in action at Wentworth," Olazabal said.

"Medinah was an unforgettable experience for everyone who was there, whether it was as a player, captain or spectator.

"[With] the players reunited to show what they can do as individuals as opposed to the team environment, it promises to be a great tournament."
