American Ryder Cup team-mates Zach Johnson and Dustin Johnson have withdrawn from this week's Ballantine's Championship in South Korea due to "perceived unrest" in the region.

Tensions between South Korea and North Korea have been exacerbated by reports of military artillery movement in the North and reports of an imminent missile test launch.

"Ballantine's is disappointed to announce that Dustin Johnson and Zach Johnson have informed us they will no longer be attending the Ballantine's Championship," according to a statement from the tournament organisers.

"They have reached this decision following perceived unrest on the Korean Peninsula and can no longer assure their commitment to this year's event."

Organisers confirmed that the European Tour event will go ahead as planned, with world No. 7 Louis Oosthuizen heading the field.
