Lee Westwood had a week off following his fine efforts at the Players Championship, but has been rewarded with a rise in the rankings to a career high No. 3 in the world.

Westwood has been a model of consistency for the past couple of years and has finished third, third and second in the past three major championships.

He is still some way behind Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson is terms of ranking points, but his fine performances this year have enabled him to move ahead of Steve Stricker in the pecking order.

Adam Scott snapped a losing streak that stretched back two years at the Texas Open and the Australian has risen seven places in the rankings to 36.

Sergio Garcia showed signs of a revival in Texas, but he still finished down in 45th and it resulted in the Spaniard slipping three places to 30.
