Goosen withdraws from PGA Championship

South Africa's Retief Goosen has pulled out of this week's BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
The two-time major champion has been out of action since The Masters after breaking a toe while "running around" with his children. Goosen is joined on the sidelines by Jose Maria Olazabal.
The two-time Masters champion has decided he is still not ready for a return to competitive action after a seven-month lay-off caused by rheumatic problems. The Spaniard played in a pro-am event in Mallorca last week but does not feel fit enough to compete for four straight days.
2005 US Open champion Michael Campbell is another no-show for the European Tour's flagship event. The New Zealander has endured a torrid time this season and has not made the halfway cut at an event since last October and talked of taking an extended break from the game after shooting rounds of 83 and 81 at Augusta last month.
"Mentally I'm not there and maybe I should get away for a month or six months or who knows - I need to get myself sorted out," Campbell said. "Michael Campbell should not be shooting these scores. It's just not working.
"This is pretty much the worst I have felt since I turned professional. It's been ridiculous."
All of Europe's biggest names are set to appear, although world No. 30 Sergio Garcia recently decided to exclude the event from his schedule after playing in at the Valero Texas Open.
17-year-old Matteo Manassero has been handed an invite after impressing on his first professional start at the Italian Open earlier in the month. The Italian is joined by English pair Oliver Fisher and Simon Khan, Scot Stephen Gallacher and Spain's Alejandro Canizares - who lost to Peter Hanson in a play-off at the Mallorca Open - on the list of invites.
