- Crown Plaza Invitational, Round One
Davis surges into contention

Brian Davis' fine run of form continued as he posted a six-under-par 64 to sit one off the lead after the first round of the Crowne Plaza Invitational.
The focus was on Phil Mickelson at the start of the round, as a win would take him above Tiger Woods to No. 1 in the world, but he had a mixed day. Lefty birdied the first two holes to whip up the crowd at Colonial, but he went into the water on the seventh to post a double-bogey six and he failed to recovery and finished on one-over-par.
In contrast, Davis fired seven birdies and a solitary bogey to move within one of joint leaders Blake Adams, Jeff Overton and Jason Bohn.
Paul Casey is another Brit well placed as he sits at four-under, one shot ahead of Justin Rose who needs to find some form if he is to secure a place in the Europe Ryder Cup team.
Ian Poulter recovered from bogeys at three and four to fire a one-under 69, while John Daly revived memories of his form of years ago with an excellent four-under 66.
