Comment: Donald sheds 'disease' tag

Luke Donald will take momentum into this week's US Open as he has climbed another two places in the world rankings to No. 6.

Donald has found form with a vengeance this year and a win at the Madrid Masters moved him back into the world's top ten. He took a week off ahead of the US Open at Pebble Beach, but was still able to climb two places to a career-high No. 6.

Momentum is a valuable commodity in any sport and Donald has admitted to riding the crest of a wave.

"This is the best I have felt going into a Major for a while," he said. "I had had a consistent year up to playing the three events in Europe but there was still some pressure to get that win.

"And to get it done last week meant a lot to me and that has helped me. Winning breeds more winning, I believe.

"I feel more comfortable than I did before the win in Madrid. Hopefully I can build on that."

Donald swapped places with fellow Brit Ian Poulter in the rankings, the only two changes in the top 15.
