Poulter missed the cut at last week's Scottish Open having jarred his wrist during his second round. However, he tweeted on Tuesday morning that a scan on the injury had revealed no serious damage.
Speaking to ESPN on Monday, Poulter voiced his concerns that playing the third major of the year at Hoylake could make the injury worse.
"I'm over the back injury from the BMW PGA Championship, but I managed to pick a new one up [at the Scottish Open] in my wrist, which is frustrating," he said.
"I jarred my wrist on the 14th hole at Aberdeen and then didn't help it with a hack out the rough at 18. I have it strapped up at the minute.
"I've been given the all clear to play at Hoylake, but the main priority is obviously not doing any more damage to it - but I will be playing through the pain, as they say."
Great news with the wrist. On impact I've Jared it and an old ganglion cyst has shown itself. No tendon or damage. Painkillers and crack on.— Ian Poulter (@IanJamesPoulter) July 15, 2014
