Greg Norman believes Tiger Woods is the 'logical choice'

Former Open champion Greg Norman believes Tiger Woods was the obvious choice for US Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin.

Pavin named Woods alongside Stewart Cink, Zach Johnson and Rickie Fowler as his four captain's picks for the event at Celtic Manor next month, and despite the fact that Woods has not won a title this season, Norman believes the world No. 1 has merited his place in the team.

"He loves to compete; he wants to get out there, he wants to improve his golf game," Norman told ESPN. "He's done a tremendous job of that in a two-week time period, so roll forward another four weeks, how much better is he going to be in four weeks?"

While Woods' Ryder Cup record is far from flawless - in 25 games he has won 10, halved two and lost 13 - Norman believes his unbeaten performance at the 2009 Presidents Cup is proof that he is a worthy wildcard.

"It was a logical choice; he's going to do fine," Norman said." His record in the Presidents Cup last year, he won every match, so I'm sure he's going to win a few points for his captain."
