World No. 3 Martin Kaymer has no complaints about the current golf rankings - as he believes the two men ahead of him would combine to create 'the perfect player'.

Lee Westwood and Luke Donald are the two men at the top of the rankings, an impressive success for English golf. And Kaymer believes the duo have distinct attributes that have made them so successful.

"I think the perfect golf player at the moment would be the long game from Lee Westwood and the short game from Luke Donald," noted Kaymer, ahead of this week's World Match Play in Spain.

However, Donald - whose short-game was described as 'unbelievable' by Kaymer earlier in the season - downplayed the German's comments.

"I don't know about that, I'm hitting it pretty good off the tee right now," the 33-year-old said. "Yeah, Lee has excelled in his long game. He's extremely solid. And I've had to be good with my short game in recent years as my long game wasn't where it needed to be.

"So me and Lee would be a good combination. We kind of showed that in the Ryder Cup."

Westwood believes the opposite is true for him - that he is trying to sharpen his short game to match the consistency of his long game.

"It's definitely going the right way," Westwood said. "Look at my stats on the US tour - average 70-plus percentage greens in regulation and last week 70% fairways hit too.

"The goal is always two-thirds in each as a minimum and I think I'm around that both now, which is up five or six per cent since last year."

Kaymer, meanwhile, goes into the new-look matchplay event searching for a new caddie, after splitting with Craig Connelly - the man on his bag when he won the USPGA last year, and moved to No. 1 in the world at the beginning of 2011.

"We had a fantastic year together," said Kaymer, whose brother will do the honours this week. "We will see what happens at Wentworth next week; if I can find somebody. But if not, I'm sure I'll find someone by the US Open."
