Ex-Renault driver Romain Grosjean will replace Ho-Pin Tung at the DAMS GP2 team for this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix.

Tung, Renault's official reserve driver, injured his back at the Hungarian Grand Prix after he was involved in an accident with ART's Jules Bianchi. He is still not deemed fit to race and as a result will be replaced by Grosjean who subbed in for Jerome d'Ambrosio at DAMS earlier this season.

"It's never very nice to replace another driver due to injury, and I really wish Ho-Pin a quick recovery," said Grosjean. "While awaiting his return, I'm delighted to be able to lend a hand to the DAMS team for which I drove at Hockenheim just over a month ago. In Germany we were very quick but luck wasn't on our side. In Belgium, we'll have the opportunity to build on our collaboration and turn our promising performance into points."

Tung has recovered well from his shunt but due to the nature of his injury will be reassessed by doctors ahead of the Italian Grand Prix before being allowed back into the cockpit.

"A few days after my return from Budapest I slowly began training again," said Tung. "I've made quick progress, and my back is less painful but the examinations carried out at the start of the week show that the fracture hasn't healed 100%. It would be too dangerous to get back behind the wheel now. Of course, I'm disappointed, but I'm continuing my physical recovery programme and I hope to come back very soon. I'd like to wish DAMS, Jerome, and Romain a very successful weekend."

Grosjean is also reported to be taking over Tung's position as reserve driver at Renault despite the team saying that an official decision on its third driver at Spa has not been made. Spanish newspaper Marca suggests that Grosjean is returning to the role at his old team for a one-off race before Tung is brought back at Monza.
