Grosjean dismisses temperature concerns
Romain Grosjean has dismissed concerns that Lotus will struggle at the British Grand Prix due to low track temperatures.
Lotus has been very competitive in hot conditions, with the two drivers finishing second and third in Bahrain and Kimi Raikkonen finishing second last time out in Valencia after Grosjean retired when well placed for victory. The weather forecast is for much cooler temperatures and rain at Silverstone, however, but Grosjean says that the high-speed nature of the track will help switch the tyres on if it remains dry.
"We have to see," Grosjean said. "This track puts a lot of energy in to the tyres so the heat - or the cold - should not be as bad as it was in Canada for example. But then we have to see basically if it's raining or if it's dry, take the best chance to get on track at the right time and try to analyse the weather forecast. It shouldn't be as bad as it has been in the cold conditions."
Reflecting on the alternator failure that caused his retirement from the European Grand Prix, Grosjean said he had no concerns about the chances of a repeat problem.
"We have been trying to analyse what has been happening and there is a few ideas and things that have been changed since the last race and hopeful it was a one-off experience that we're not going to have again. On the other side it was the first time we've had a reliability issue, it was in a way a stupid issue. It's not a big deal so it should be sorted out by now and we shouldn't get any more problems."
