Horner expresses concerns over Spa and Monza

Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner is concerned that the low downforce nature of the forthcoming rounds at Spa Francorchamps and Monza could play into the hands of title rivals McLaren.

The RB6 machine has proved in a class of its own on the medium to high downforce circuits, the car's blown diffuser and flexible front wing giving it a clear advantage over the opposition.

But the long straights at the Belgian and Italian circuits are expected to suit the extra horsepower of the Mercedes engine and McLaren's own successful innovation, the F-duct.

"It is in the twisty second sector that we will have to make up time," Horner told Auto Motor und Sport. "Down the hill to Eau Rouge, and on the long straight and then back to the finish, we will lose out."

Despite taking the championship lead after his win in Hungary, Mark Webber echoed his boss's sentiments that Monza may be one of the team's biggest challenges.

"We're a little bit worried about how the long straights might go at some of the other venues and maybe Monza," said Webber.
