Jake Ellenberger talks to ESPN

Jake Ellenberger believes Carlos Condit will be walking into dangerous territory if, as expected, he fights Josh Koscheck at UFC 143 in February.

Ellenberger is an interested observer when it comes to the UFC welterweight division. Victory over Jake Shields put the Juggernaut right into the title picture, but Nick Diaz will get the next shot with Condit the next in line.

Condit had initially been heading for champion Georges St-Pierre himself until the UFC gave his title crack to Diaz. Instead, the Greg Jackson fighter must attempt to remain in contention by taking another difficult fight.

President Dana White said it is more than likely to be Koscheck on Super Bowl weekend, and while Ellenberger appeared disappointed due to his own desire to rematch Condit, he warned that Koscheck won't be prepared to play the role of stepping stone.

"I wouldn't say Koscheck is a sacrificial lamb, he's a top 10 guy for sure," Ellenberger told ESPN.

"It's got to be frustrating [for Condit], being the No. 1 contender and wanting to fight. After beating some of the guys he's beaten, he's only going to get a top guy.

"Carlos definitely has a lot to risk by fighting Koscheck, but it's his decision."
