Andre Winner trains with 'unreal' St-Pierre

Andre Winner has spent some time working with UFC champions Dominick Cruz and Georges St-Pierre ahead of UFC 132, and he insists there is nothing you can do to stop a GSP takedown.

Winner has a potentially high-octane encounter with Anthony Njokuani to negotiate in little over a week's time, knowing defeat can get his career back on track in the lightweight division.

To prepare, Winner has spent time at the Alliance Gym with bantamweight champion Cruz, as well as working with welterweight king St-Pierre, who takes on Nick Diaz in his next title defence after a slightly underwhelming victory over Jake Shields in his last outing.

Winner insists it is hard to appreciate exactly how good St-Pierre is until you grapple with him, insisting the Canadian's takedown is impossible to stop.

"When I cornered Paul Daley for his fight with Nick Diaz, I went out to the Alliance Gym with Dominick Cruz and a whole heap of guys. They're really hospitable," Winner told ESPN.

"I also worked with Georges St-Pierre recently. I get on with Georges well and he's helped me out no end.

"I don't think I've ever stopped one of Georges' takedowns! If I have, it must have literally been like, one. If he wants to take you down, he'll take you down.

"His wrestling is unreal. The main thing about Georges is, even if you see it coming, it doesn't matter - once he has hold of you that's it, you're going down."

St-Pierre took a serious poke to the eye during the Shields fight, leaving him seeing out of one eye for the final two rounds, and Winner is adamant that affected his finish.

"He's so good for the sport. I know he wanted a better fight against Jake Shields, but I saw his eye two weeks after the fight and it was still pretty bad then. He was fighting a world class guy with one eye. So I think he did a good job."
