Valtteri Bottas is confident Williams will not experience a repeat of the bodywork problems his car suffered during the first practice session for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The cover of Bottas' sidepod came off on the back straight during the first practice session, forcing him to return to the pits and bringing an end to his session. Bottas said the team had been experimenting with something new but that they would not run it again for the rest of the weekend.

"We tried something different with them," he said. "The main thing was how it was connected and it was a different sidepod that we have not run at a track as quick as this. It's good that we tried this in FP1. But there was not much performance in that anyway."

Felipe Massa also cut his FP1 session short with the same problem, although the sidepod did not come off.

"It was not a big drama," Massa added. "We just had a different mounting of the bodywork. It just came up and I was lucky to see at the right time and then we just took time to re-mount it and put everything in the right configuration not to have this same problem again. But it's fine now and I don't think we will have this same problem again."
