Felipe Massa doubts Williams will be able to get involved in the battle between Mercedes' two title contenders at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this weekend.

For Nico Rosberg to stand a chance of clinching the title he needs to win the race with his Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton third or lower. Rosberg believes Williams stands the best chance of getting in the mix, but after finishing the second practice session well over a second adrift of the Mercedes, Massa is not so sure.

"Looking at the pace they have, I don't think it will be so easy," he said. "We will have a look and check, and if we have any opportunity to be there we will be there. But they are really in another world. We just need to be ready if we have an opportunity or if they make a mistake."

Valtteri Bottas also expects Mercedes to hold its usual advantage over Williams.

"It's quite normal because they are quick," Bottas added. "We still know that if we work hard we have some things that should automatically improve our pace tomorrow when we turn everything up. It should be better, but it's difficult to say how close to Mercedes we can get."
