Force India has cancelled James Rossiter's free practice debut due to the bad weather at Silverstone on Friday morning.

The Force India simulator driver had been scheduled to drive Adrian Sutil's car during the Friday free practice session but a wet track and light rain on Friday morning prompted the team to postpone his run to another event. Rossiter's main objective had been to run comparisons with the team's driver-in-loop simulator and the wet conditions meant such a test would be fruitless.

"The wet track means that, unfortunately, James Rossiter won't get the previously announced FP1 run," the team confirmed on Twitter. "His work was dependent on dry conditions. The team will evaluate other future opportunities for James to drive the VJM06, in conditions that will be more representative for the sim."

The weather is forecast to improve over Saturday and Sunday for qualifying and the race.
