The United States were thrashed 74-6 by a "legendary Aussie team" and not the All Blacks, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
In one of the great newspaper errors of the year, the Chicago masthead issued the ultimate insult to a Kiwi when they made the mistake in their Sunday edition.

The All Blacks, and not the Wallabies, had of course romped to the 68-point win at Soldier Field the previous day. The paper quickly issued an apology.

The New Zealand Herald perhaps best summed up the error, quipping: "What's the bigger crime? Calling the All Blacks Australian or labelling the Wallabies legendary?"
Well said.
