Qualifying

Hello and welcome to ESPN's live coverage of qualifying for the 2017 Hungarian Grand Prix.

Just 20 minutes until qualifying gets underway at the Hungaroring. Ferrari showed its hand in FP3 with Sebastian Vettel topping the session by 0.475s ahead of teammate Kimi Raikkonen. Valtteri Bottas was best of the rest in third, however, he was nearly 0.9s off the pace. Five-time winner Lewis Hamilton continued to struggle on the super-soft tyres and was only in fifth. The other big story of FP3 at the sharp end was more unreliability for Red Bull as Daniel Ricciardo, who topped both FP1 and FP2, suffered a hydraulic issue meaning he competed just seven laps.

McLaren and Renault look set to battle it out for best of the rest behind the leading teams. Vandoorne was an impressive sixth fastest ahead of Hulkenberg.

There is a driver change down at Williams as Massa has been hit with a virus meaning former Force India driver Paul di Resta will drive for the remainder of the weekend.

Hamilton can equal Schumacher's record pole position tally of 68 if he secures pole position this afternoon. The Briton has struggled all weekend and hasn't put together a representative lap on the super-soft tyres so far.

Vettel set a new outright circuit record in FP3, smashing Barichello's 2004 record by 1.4s. With further track evolution and engine modes being turned up, the times will surely continue to tumble.

Q1 gets underway in just under 10 minutes' time. Sauber, Williams, Haas and Force India are the likely to be near the drop zone in the first part of qualifying.

Q2 will determine who will make the pole position shootout. Whoever makes it into Q3 will have to start the race on the tyres they used to set their best time in Q2. It will be interesting to see if anyone opts for the more durable, yellow-marked soft tyres.
