STORY OF THE ROUND

Conference club Luton Town take pride of place in our review of the fourth round with their amazing 1-0 win at Premier League Norwich City. Scott Rendell's goal ten minutes from time meant the Hatters became the first non-league team to beat a top-flight opponent for 24 years. Liverpool were sent tumbling out by League Two Oldham 3-2 in a pulsating cup tie, while beleaguered Aston Villa saw their season go from bad to worse with a 2-1 loss at Championship Millwall. QPR join the rogues' gallery after falling four goals down at home to League One MK Dons before losing 4-2, and Spurs' hopes were ended 2-1 at Leeds United of the Championship. Chelsea needed a late equaliser from Fernando Torres to secure a replay against League One neighbours Brentford.

GOAL OF THE ROUND

Scott Dann (Blackburn Rovers) Centre-back Scott Dann is not known for his goalscoring prowess, with his goal in Blackburn's 3-0 win at Derby only his second since December 2011 - but what a goal it was. He chested down a lofted pass into the area and unleashed an unstoppable shot on the bounce that gave goalkeeper Adam Legzdins no chance.

PLAYER OF THE ROUND

Matt Smith (Oldham Athletic) Few gave League One strugglers Oldham much chance of beating Liverpool at Boundary Park, but Matt Smith had other ideas. The 23-year-old, who 18 months ago was playing non-league football with Solihull Moors, scored after three minutes and again in first-half stoppage time to help set up the 3-2 win before being forced off injured in the closing stages.
