STORY OF THE ROUND
It is now eight long years since Arsenal last won a trophy and Blackburn Rovers ensured the wait will go on as the Championship club emerged from the Emirates victorious. Colin Kazim-Richards capitalised on an error by Gunners goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny to score the only goal in the 72nd minute. Shocks were thin on the ground elsewhere but Oldham did take Everton to a replay as Matt Smith scored at the death to force a 2-2 draw. Everton secured their passage back at Goodison Park. Conference club Luton Town finally bowed out with a 3-0 home defeat to Millwall, while Barnsley, Chelsea, Wigan and both Manchester clubs also went into the hat for the quarter-finals.
GOAL OF THE ROUND
Yaya Toure (Man City) Manchester City needed just five minutes to open the scoring on the way to a 4-0 drubbing of Leeds United, and they did it in style. David Silva and Carlos Tevez were both involved in a neat interchange of passing with Toure before the Ivorian danced round Jamie Ashdown and rolled the ball into the empty net.
PLAYER OF THE ROUND
Jake Kean (Blackburn) Jake Kean had a stormer at the Emirates during Blackburn's FA Cup triumph over Arsenal. Kean faced 26 shots on his goal, 12 of which were on target, making superb saves from a host of Gunners including Abou Diaby and Theo Walcott while showing oodles of composure as he marshalled his penalty box expertly in the face of an all-out bombardment.
