Adam Scott has played down Steve Williams' dig at Tiger Woods following the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, claiming he wants to let his clubs do the talking at this week's US PGA Championship.

Scott produced a glorious final round to win at Firestone last weekend, but the focus was on his caddie after Williams said "I've been caddieing for 33 years, 145 wins, and that's the best week of my life."

The comments came a couple of weeks after he was sacked by Woods, whose bag he carried for 13 major wins.

A number of leading figures have accused Williams of hijacking Scott's win, but the Australian seems unfazed by the comments - feeling they have been blown out of proportion.

"Anything related to Tiger Woods is scrutinised and blown out of proportion a lot of the time," Scott said. "This is no different.

"He [Williams] said that it was not his intention to do that [insult Woods]. He was asked a question and gave an honest answer.

"That's fair enough and we will go and let our clubs do the talking for the rest of the week."
