Monty and Pavin welcome Woods return
US Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin and his European counterpart Colin Montgomerie have welcomed the news that Tiger Woods will return to action at the Masters.
The world No. 1 confirmed on Tuesday that he would return to the course for the first time since November in the opening Major of the year. There is sure to be a media frenzy at Augusta, after which players and officials will hope things return to a semblance of normality.
Woods has not confirmed what events he will play as the year progresses, but the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor in October is sure to figure prominently in his thinking.
The Ryder Cup is a huge event in the calendar but it will be boosted by the participation of Woods and Pavin feels the player will take the media attention in his stride.
"If there's anybody on this planet that can handle any situation on the golf course, it would be Tiger Woods," he said. "He is as mentally tough as anybody I've ever seen in my life and I don't expect for there to be any problems any way."
Montgomerie said: "He's certainly been missed by players and fans. Everyone is looking forward to seeing him."
