Montgomerie backing Garcia to find form

Colin Montgomerie has backed Sergio Garcia to rediscover his best form and secure an automatic place in his Ryder Cup team.
Spanish star Garcia has cut a forlorn figure this season and his poor form has seen him slip down the world rankings and out of the automatic places for the Ryder Cup. If the Ryder Cup team was selected today, Garcia would be reliant on a captain's pick from Montgomerie.
Montgomerie is of the opinion that the Europe team would be weaker without Garcia in it and is looking for the Spaniard to find his best form.
"He's got four months to prove to me that he is capable; I know he is capable," Montgomerie told Sky Sports News. "The European team without Sergio Garcia is a weaker one. So with him by definition it is a stronger one. I think the cream will rise towards the end of the year."
Montgomerie has one eye on the USA team for the Celtic Manor clash and he is convinced Tiger Woods will be in the field, despite Corey Pavin saying recently that the world No. 1 had to prove himself worthy of a spot in the side.
"How can you possibly leave out the best player, in my opinion, ever to play the game?" the Scot said. "Yes he has issues, the problems are well documented, but the Ryder Cup is a better event with him than without him."
