I don't deserve Ryder Cup spot - Garcia

Sergio Garcia has admitted his form is so poor at the present moment he would not deserve a wildcard pick for the Ryder Cup.
Garcia is a huge fan of the Ryder Cup and has been a pivotal figure in the European side since making his debut as a teenager in 1999.
The Spaniard's form has dipped markedly in the past year and he is now outside the top 30 in the world rankings and if the Ryder Cup team was selected today, he would need to rely on a wildcard from captain Colin Montgomerie. But such is his poor form at present, he would advise the Scot to look elsewhere.
"If it was right now I would probably talk to Monty and tell him what I am feeling," Garcia said. "I would only accept to go if I felt that I was the best choice. It's the team that counts and if I thought that any other player could do a better job than me I would certainly decline.
"At present I don't think that I am the best choice, but we still have a few months to go and hopefully things will change. I hope he does not need to pick me!"
Garcia has cut a frustrated figure on course this year and admits he is working on the technical and mental aspects of his game.
"I feel like I am getting better," he said. "My putting definitely is, but I've been struggling with my ball striking and when that happens the alarm sirens go because I've always been a good ball striker.
"I am working on different parts of my game and I definitely feel that I am making progress. I have been getting some good scores lately, but I still lack consistency. I am making some technical changes both in my long and my short game - my chief aim is consistency, the more consistent the better.
"I am also working on my mental approach. I am trying not to put so much pressure on myself. If you put on too much pressure you get frustrated when things don't turn out as expected. So now I just try to let things happen and to keep in a positive state of mind, which is crucial in golf. I feel that I am taking steps in the right direction in order to build up my confidence. I just need to be that bit more confident to perform well again."
