Montgomerie learns from Faldo's mistakes

Colin Montgomerie has taken a swipe at 2008 Ryder Cup captain Sir Nick Faldo by insisting that the European team will not lack for passion this time around.
America reclaimed the trophy at Valhalla two years ago - claiming a 16½ -11½ win - and Faldo was criticised for his stewardship of the European squad.
One of the reasons he attracted condemnation was for his failure to inspire the group, leading Montgomerie to make it plain that history will not repeat itself.
The Scot has plumped for four vice-captains - including the surprise pick of Sergio Garcia - as he bids to rally the troops before they go into combat.
"Last time around there did not seem to be the passion. Who can say why? But I can guarantee there will be passion this time," Montgomerie told the Daily Express.
"I've got Darren Clarke, Paul McGinley, Thomas Bjorn and Sergio Garcia as my vice-captains and there is some passion there for you - they all live for this European Tour.
"I will assemble everyone at Celtic Manor in the team room on Monday night and there will be so much passion in that team room that everyone will leave shaking. I can assure you everyone will go to bed that night thinking 'My God!"'
