Updates to the front-running Red Bull RB6 should knock 0.3 seconds off its lap time at the Spanish Grand Prix, according to the team's motor sport consultant Helmut Marko.

Red Bull has taken pole position at every race weekend this season and, after a number of modifications to the car in the three-week gap since the Chinese Grand Prix, Marko is confident the fastest car on the grid is about to get even faster.

"Based on our data - and it is very reliable - I am working on the assumption that in Barcelona we will be at least three tenths faster," he said on Austrian TV Sport und Talk aus dem Hangar 7.

All teams will bring updated cars to Spain, with Mercedes' changes attracting particular attention . However, Marko is confident Red Bull will not be worrying about the challenge from the W01s.

"Realistically, in qualifying, Mercedes was five to seven tenths behind us," he added. "We are now three tenths even quicker, which means they would have to make up a second. And one second (per lap) is really a lot."

Despite being quick in qualifying, Red Bull has failed to reap the rewards in races this season, with Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber lying fifth and eighth in the drivers' championship. Nevertheless, Marko has no doubts the car and drivers will start to earn the results they deserve in the coming races.

"Now that we have such a great package, we are confident that we will achieve our goal of winning the championship this year," he said.
