The WRU has revealed the results of a survey it commissioned which it says show that more than half the population of Wales is involved with rugby as a player, supporter or follower of broadcast and newspaper coverage.

Perhaps more surprisingly, the survey reported 41% of the adult population of Wales have been to the Millennium Stadium to watch the national side and 30% said they would attend in the future. Which raises questions as to what put off the 11% who will not return.

Unsurprisingly, price was the major influence on deciding whether to attend matches.

The WRU, which is at war with its own regions, said the survey would be used to steer its strategy to enhance the relationship clubs and fans in general have with the game.
