Montgomerie's Open place under threat by injury

Colin Montgomerie has revealed that his participation in the Open at St Andrews is under threat as he is suffering from a calf injury.
The European Ryder Cup captain, who qualified for the July major after shooting a final-round 62 in qualifying, is determined not to miss out on a 21st-consecutive Open.
"I've no idea how I did it but the muscle is torn, the pain is all through my back and Achilles tendon," he said. "After a 62 to get in I don't want to miss out."
Montgomerie was able to complete his second round at the BMW International in Munich on Friday, where he made the cut with a score of six-under-par, after which he sought treatment on his muscle problem.
"I've been seeing Germany's under-21 football team doctor; his boss is in South Africa [at the World Cup], of course," Montgomerie said. "He's been very helpful because he's used to dealing with footballers who have this type of injury."
