Six Nations champions Wales have dropped to 6th place in the latest International Rugby Board world rankings following their shock defeat to Japan on Saturday.
Japan's 23-8 victory in Tokyo, their first ever success against a side ranked in the world's top 10, sees them close the gap on 14th-placed Fiji while France climb above Wales into 5th place despite their 30-0 defeat at the hands of No.1 side New Zealand. Second-placed South Africa kept the pressure on the All Blacks with a 30-17 win against 11th-placed Scotland.
England remain in 4th place following their 51-26 win against 9th-placed Argentina in Buenos Aires, Samoa cemented their 7th place with a 39-10 victory over 12th-placed Italy in Nelspruit and Ireland are ranked 8th having beaten 13th-placed Canada 40-14 in Toronto.
