South Africa hail Habana career milestone

June 24, 2013

The South African Rugby Union has officially congratulated Springboks winger Bryan Habana on reaching 50 Test tries.

Habana's second try during the Boks' 56-23 victory over Samoa at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday saw him become only the sixth player in the history of the game to reach a half century of international tries.

"This is an achievement all South Africans can be immensely proud of," said SARU president Oregan Hoskins. "Since making his Springbok debut in 2004, Bryan has been an inspiration on and off the field and it is very well-deserved that his name will forever live in the annals of the game as the first Springbok to reach this special milestone and a man who set a mark that will take a very special player to eclipse."

All-time leading Test try-scorers:
Daisuke Ohata (Japan) - 69
David Campese (Australia) - 64
Shane Williams (Wales) - 60
Hirotoki Onozawa (Japan) - 55
Rory Underwood (England) - 50
Bryan Habana (South Africa) - 50
