Bath play down Kyle Eastmond injury

Bath have played down the significance of the injury suffered by Kyle Eastmond during their Aviva Premiership victory over Newcastle on Friday night.

Eastmond suffered a knee injury during his side's 21-0 victory over the Falcons at Kingston Park and limped out of the game before half-time. But coach Mike Ford insists the club are not too concerned by the injury and he may be fit for next weekend's clash with Leicester at The Rec.

"He's just taken a new knock on his knee but he's fine. There's no structural damage or a twist," Ford told BBC Radio Bristol. "Whether he'll be fit for next week or not - it's too early to tell."

Ford also welcomed the opportunity the injury provided to new signing Gavin Henson. "It was good to bring on Gav. It shows our strength in depth," said Ford. "It was good for him as he's taken a few knocks in pre-season. He's got his debut out of the way, and the hype that goes with that. He put in a hard graft and I thought he did well."
