Cuthbert injury gives Wales autumn scare

October 19, 2013

Wales have been dealt an injury blow ahead of the autumn internationals after wing Alex Cuthbert limped off during Cardiff Blues' 19-15 Heineken Cup win over holders Toulon.

The Blues wing slipped on the plastic Arms Park pitch in the first half and, despite playing on, failed to re-appear after the interval, and predicted after the match he may face at least a few weeks on the sidelines.

It is a further blow to Wales coach Warren Gatland ahead of the visit of South Africa to the Millennium Stadium on November 9, with his side already set to miss another creative outlet in Jamie Roberts - who looks set to miss most or all of the autumn campaign following ankle surgery.

Cuthbert told Wales Online: "I did it early in the match - I went over on an ankle. I will find out on Monday what it's like. Hopefully, it will just be a couple of weeks."
